Gentlemen,
Government House, Hong Kong, June 3, 1842.
In reply to your
Letter of the 31st Ultimo,
I am directed by His Excellency Sir Henry Pottinger
to acquaint you, that your application for
the ground you wish, will remain on record, but
that at present, His Excellency cannot conjecture the principle on which Her Majesty's Government may be pleased hereafter to sanction land being granted... Should it be by priority of application, Your claim will of course stand good; but it seems more than probable that
competition will oblige Government to put
all ...

Let's correct and reformat according to the given instructions. 1. The original text had "Honghong" which is corrected to "Hong Kong". 2. "16412" is corrected to "1842". 3. "31th Ullimo" is corrected to "31st Ultimo". 4. "Kwoelleney" is corrected to "Excellency". 5. "aequamb" seems to be an OCR error and is not clear; however, based on context, it is interpreted as "the ground you wish". 6. "kneellency" is corrected to "Excellency". 7. "sanctim" is corrected to "sanction". 8. "probabie" is corrected to "probable". 9. The text is reformatted into proper paragraphs. The final output is as above. However, to adhere strictly to the format and further refine:N285
