Letter of the 31st Ultimo,

I am directed by His Excellency Sir Henry Pottinger

to acquaint you, that your application for

the ground you wish, will remain on record, but

that at present, His Excellency cannot conjecture the principle on which Her Majesty's Government may be pleased hereafter to sanction land being granted... Should it be by priority of application, Your claim will of course stand good; but it seems more than probable that
